A husband and wife team, Alex and Victoria Arizpe are the CEO’s of Uptown
Productions, Inc. and co-founders and associate directors of both the Swingtown
Jitterhoppers and the Uptown Street Dance Company. The Swingtown Jitterhoppers
specialize in musical theatre style jazz blended with the authentic style of the
1930’s/40’s lindy hop and jitterbug creating an energetic neo-swing style, which
they call Jitterhopping. The Uptown Street Dance Company specializes in dance
productions which blend technical jazz dance with the dance styles of the 1920’s
through present day giving the raw dances of the past and present an exciting,
theatrical style. Their most recent choreography credits include “Jitterhoppin”,
a world premiere swing ballet for Texas Ballet Theater, under the direction of
Ben Stevenson, HITS Theatre productions of the Broadway musicals Seussical the
Musical and Carnival at Miller Outdoor Theater, the Super Bowl Commissioners
Ball, Dance Houston at the Hobby Center, Arts in The Edge in Shreveport,
Louisana, and the Woodlands First Night New Year’s Celebration at the Cynthia
Woods Mitchell Pavillon. Other choreography credits include Dance Salad at the
Wortham Theatre, the Gala performance for the Jewish Community Center’s 25th
anniversary of Dance Month , Choreographer’s x 6, the MGM film Rush, the NFL
Houston Oiler Dancers, commercials for Foley‘s and MTV, industrials for Ski Do,
Verizon Wireless, Nike, Reebok, and El Paso Energy, as well as numerous award
ceremonies and corporate events in and around Texas. They are currently on the
faculty at the Houston Metropolitan Dance Center teaching jazz, street jazz, and
X-dancing (extreme dance).
