Made in Italy presented by Dominic Walsh Dance

DWDT presents the work of Mauro Bigozetti,
Artistic Director of Aterballeto and according
to Ballet 2000 magazine, "the most
interesting Italian choreographer of his
generation." Along with this provocative work,
Dominic Walsh will present two thrilling works
of his own that take inspiration from Italy's
art, culture, history and people.
Made in Italy will be May 3 - 5, 2007, at
7:30pm at the Hobby Center for the Performing
Arts in Zilkha Hall. Tickets range from $15 -
$42 with a special VIP opening night package
available.

International Guest Artists join Houston's Dance
of Asian America in Dance Collage |

After the world premiere of Heaven and
Earth debuted to delighted audiences last
weekend at Zilkha Hall, Dance of Asian America
will present a similar concert this weekend at
Miller Outdoor Theater. Dance Collage
will feature the works of national award-winning
dancers from China along with reknown
choreography performed by DAA's repertory
company.

The Sam Houston State University (SHSU) Dance
Program will host their annual Spring Concert
this weekend in Houston. In addition to faculty
work, the concert will feature the faculty &
student choreography recently recognized at the
American College Dance Festival.
Featuring a wide range of choreographic
styles, the concert promises to be well worth
seeing. Guest choreographer and Visiting
Lecturer Jean Denney Grotewohl presents
Footnotes, a lively combination of American
roots and traditional music teamed with
contemporary and traditional step dance,
clogging, hoofing, tap, and period social dance.
Joining her will be six other choreographers,
including Wanderlust, a farewell piece by
Melissa Wynn set to Radiohead's Thom Yorke.
The concert will be April 26-28, 2007 at
8:00pm at Barnevelder Arts/Movement Complex.
Tickets are $8 - $15 and reservations may be

Final Performance of the Season by The Met |

Houston Metropolitan Dance Company's Spring
Concert will present the company's diverse dance
styles. Six premieres and two reprisals are
featured on the evening program. The performance
includes The Hunt by choreographer Robert
Battle; Thom Clock by Jason Parsons; Fosse's
World by Christine Carlson; a lyrical new work
by Kristina Burgess; a riveting tap number by
Houston choreographer Kim Kelley; and new works
by Houston Met's own Kijaunta Lucas and Jhon
Stronks. The concert is this Friday, April 27,
2007 at 8:00 p.m. in the Cullen Theater at the
Wortham Center.

See and Support FLY KiDS |

Better than words, a performance by FLY KiDS
demonstrates a positive, active, inclusive, and
fun style of dance. Come support this energetic
group of young dancers at
Barnevelder on May 4th. The reception begins
at 6:00pm with a performance by FLY KiDS at
7:00pm. Bring your checkbooks: this is a
fundraiser for FLY KiDS, a non- profit
organization with a mission to promote dance as
an artistic, finess, and character building
activity for youth.

Young & Intense Summer Dance Camp |

Presented by Dance Houston, Young & Intense
offers training and performance opportunities in
modern, jazz, hip hop, social, and cultural
dance to dancers ages twelve to sixteen. A
two-week intensive workshop and performance,
Young & Intense plants the seeds for discipline
and growth in Houston's young dancers. It will
be July 9 - 20 at Mitsi Dancing School.

House of Dreams

|
House of Dreams is Shawn Welling's personal
story about Planet Funk's battle to keep its
doors open to enrich the lives of young people
through dance. The movie is full of dance and
courtroom drama. It premiered last week at
Worldfest Independent Film Festival, and AMC 30
on Dunvale near Westheimer will offer a special
screening this Sunday, April 29th, at 7:15pm.
