Ad Deum Dance Presents Mystery and Miracle |

Mystery and Miracle is the latest
offering from Ad Deum Dance Company. Ad Deum is a
contemporary dance company that explores Christian
themes through dance. Mystery and Miracle
will feature new works by choreographers Kathleen
Lobue, Caleb Mitchell, Paola Georgudis and Randall
Flinn with live music from Kemper Crabb and
Mysterium

Sabor Mexico at La Feria de la Mujer y la Familia |

La Feria de la Mujer y la Familia is an annual
free, day long celebration for Latina women, their
families and friends presented by Univision Radio.
The festival procides music, dance, and a
quincenera fashion show, as well as information on
women’s health and family services. In addition,
the festival includes exhibits, demonstrations,
and entertainment provided by celebrities.
Univision Rado and the Mexican Consulate are proud
to present a Mexican folkloric dance performance,
as part of the Sor Juana Festival, by Houston’s
very own Sabor Mexico Theatrical Dance Company.
"Sabor Mexico" is Houston's premiere Ballet
Folklorico dance ensemble. Their performance will
be Sunday, April 1, 2007, at George R. Brown
Convention Center, Hall A-3. Under the direction
of Patricia Astorga, Sabor Mexico will masterfully
perform authentic works from Mexican dance
heritage.

Psophonia Co-Artistic Director wins Montalvo
Fellowship |

Sophia L. Torres, Founding Member and
Co-Artistic Director of Psophonia Dance Company,
is one of the new recipients of the Montalvo Arts
Center Teaching Artist Fellowship, an initiative
combining the strengths of Montalvo’s education
program and the Sally and Don Lucas Artists
Programs. The first national award of its kind
dedicated to professional teaching artists, the
Teaching Artist Fellowship provides a three-month
residency at Montalvo’s Lucas Artists Programs and
partnership with a local school for curriculum
development. Only four fellowship winners were
selected from more than 100 applicants by a panel
of some of the most distinguished leaders in the
arts education world.

"The Desirability of Babies" presented an
intelligent exploration of the different ways
people view what can by a joyful or painful
experience. Through recorded interviews and modern
dance, dozens of perspectives were portrayed.
Artistic Director Sara Draper handled the subjects
objectively and sesitively. "The Desirability of
Babies" was an engaging concert and interesting
experience.

Flamenco en Vivo!

Abre los ojos to the beauty and intensity of
Flamenco at March's hottest dance showcase,
Flamenco en Vivo! San Franciscan star Melissa
Cruz will make her Houston debut with special
musical guests. Held at the Hobby Center's Zilkha
Hall, this concert offers an intimate experience
of the passion and beauty of Flamenco.
Flamenco en Vivo! is the second joint
venture of its kind presented by The Spanish
Institute of Dance and Dance Houston. This concert
series began with sold- out success and standing
ovations in Houston in 2005, and this year’s
performance promises to be even better than its
predecessor.
