Dance Houston Directory:
The Collective Sound Cloggers (CSC) from Houston, Texas was originally founded as the Friendswood Country Cloggers in 1979 by Dot Davis, who led the group until her retirement in 1990. Since then, Lola Beaty has expanded the group’s style from straight-forward Appalachian clogging to a variety of clogging styles. Jennie Roberts, who has been with the team since 1990, now shares directorship and choreography with Lola.
CSC is a clogging performance team that combines traditional Appalachian style, Canadian style and buck clogging in their unique routines. All of the routines feature original choreography by the groups’ directors. The team dances to an array of music, including bluegrass, country, Celtic, rock and pop. Examples include Walk This Way by Aerosmith, Cotton Eyed Joe by The Chieftains/Ricky Skaggs, Choctaw Hayride by Allison Kraus and Union Street Station, and Reel du Forgeron by La Bottine Souriante. Their performances span from Disney World (FL) to the Houston International Festival (TX) and many events and cities in between.
